Everything you need from a smart phone The 6T gives you everything you need from a top flight phone in 2018. Sure, its display is 'only' 1080p+, but it's as bright and garish as you want it to be (I prefer natural, so I tune it down to DC3 in the settings). Higher resolution displays are wasted on my eyes on a 6.4" screen, so I'll take the consequential improvement in battery life. OnePlus' implementation of Android 9 is superb and as fast as any phone I've tried. Out of the box it offers quite a few upgrades over standard Pie, but if you're a purist like me, you can configure it with launcher, wallpapers and settings to make it (almost) pure Google Pie on a Pixel. Fast charging works very well; the phone reaches 52% from zero in 30 minutes and the fast charger is included (unlike with some other, very expensive alternatives). Oppo is all set to launch its Oppo K1 smartphone in India today. The Chinese smartphone maker is hosting a press event in New Delhi, where it will unveil the smartphone. The event will start at 12 noon IST. Earlier, the e-retailer Flipkart, which will be carrying the phone, had teased the launch using a microsite on its website. The teaser notes that the phone will include an in-display fingerprint sensor and will be released at an “unbelievable” price. The phone is offered starting CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 17,100) in the company's home market.

The screen and speakers are much improved. The screen is so much better than the 2 XL’s. That isn’t saying a lot on its own given the issues that screen had, but really does look great in general. The OLED is bright and colorful and I don’t have any problems seeing the screen on sunny days. The iPhone XS and probably the Galaxy phones still get the slight edge with their screens, but unless you’re holding them up side-by-side I don’t think the difference is noticeable. The speakers are louder, but more importantly the sound is clearer. Music actually sounds pretty good just coming out of the phone’s speakers. It’s not like $100 Bluetooth speaker good, but you could probably throw your $30 one away. The experience of using the phone is as great as it’s always been. It’s fast and besides a Verizon app that can be easily uninstalled completely free of carrier bloat. A few days ago MEIZU announced the crowdfunding campaign for its innovating concept smartphone called Zero. The handset is the world’s first holeless smartphone with no SIM-card slot, USB port, headphone jack, volume and power buttons, or the speaker grill. The company is now planning to mass produce the device for which it has launched the crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that looks to raise a minimum of $100,000 (~Rs 71,12,500). The amount is fixed, which MEIZU will only receive the funds only if it’s able to complete the target. At the time of writing the article, it had already raised $23,790 (~Rs 1,69,206). The campaign will end on March 1st, 2019 and consumer from around the globe can donate the money. Google is  going to shut down  the consumer version of Google+ over the next 10 months, the company writes in a blog post today. The decision follows the revelation of a previously undisclosed security flaw that exposed users’ profile data that was remedied in March 2018. Google says Google+ currently has “low usage and engagement” and that 90 percent of Google+ user sessions last less than five seconds. Still, the company plans to keep the service alive for enterprise customers who use it to facilitate conversation among co-workers. New features will be rolled out for that use case, the company says. Google is focusing on a “secure corporate social network,” which is odd considering this announcement comes alongside news that the company left profile details unprotected.
